Tricia Cochée

Tricia Alkmia Cochée (co-shay) is a Poet, Writer/Journalist/Essayist, Cultural Arts Producer and Wholistic Health Educator. Based in Southern California, she is a fourth generation Californian with documented ancestral roots that reach to South Africa, the Caribbean and India. She has collaborated with many cultural institutions, museums, and creative partners on literature, dance, film, fashion, music, theater production, and travel. Her writing spans the interdisciplinary fields of art, culture, travel, and restorative healing with reflections on history and social justice. 
 
A co-founder of SWAAM (Spoken Word, Art and Music) poetry lounge, her poetry and prose has been featured in many venues and publications including Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center; LitFest In The Dena; City of Los Angeles African American Heritage Month Calendar; and Voices from Leimert Park Redux: Los Angeles Poetry Anthology, published by Harriet Tubman Press/Tsehai Publishers. Her memoir, The Orisha Talks: Tales of Love and Herstorical Memories(longlisted for the 2020 AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers competition) is her debut collection of poetry and prose and draws inspiration from her family Los Angeles/California stories and her cultural travels. She has two forthcoming creative nonfiction books, The Body Is Where We Live and Sacred Spaces, Mystic Moments.
